In another step towards a more sustainable construction industry, CarbonCure and CE Construction Solutions proudly announce the attainment of certification to Australian Standard AS1478.1. This milestone further supports the Australian markets embrace of CarbonCure as the “must have” sustainability solution in concrete construction.

Australian Standard AS1478.1 is widely recognised as the benchmark for special needs concrete admixtures in the Australian concrete industry. This standard sets stringent requirements for quality, performance, and safety in chemical admixtures. CarbonCure’s innovative technology for ready-mix concrete, centred around utilising captured carbon dioxide (CO2) during the batching process, has successfully met and exceeded these rigorous criteria.

This certification was made possible through a collaborative effort with our certification project partner, Boral Materials Technical Services laboratory. CE’s General Manager Dan Rowley commented that “We already knew just how well CarbonCure performed in concrete both internationally, and in the Australian market. With the support and guidance of Boral’s team at their Baulkham Hills labs, we were able to achieve this official certification to Australian Standard, further validating the papers, test data, projects, and case studies we have from the hundreds of concrete manufacturers using CarbonCure across the globe.”

How does CarbonCure work? By utilising captured CO2 in concrete mixes, CarbonCure’s technologies not only permanently mineralise CO₂ into concrete, but this carbon mineralisation also boosts concrete’s compressive strength and enables reductions of carbon-intensive cement materials from each truckload. By adopting CarbonCure into just 30% of the Australian ready-mix concrete market we will be able to mitigate over 180,000 metric tons of embodied carbon emissions every year.
